Project Brief

Develop a design prososal for the refurbishment of the main building at the camp site, including the following spaces:

  • Lobby, Multipurpose room, Toilets (Ground Floor)

Children  aged 5-17 are the main target audience to this camp. The Multipurpose room is situated next to the kitchen and is mainly used used for dinning.  Tables (floding & movable) and chairs (stackable or folding) need to be packed away when the area is set up for entertainment. Make sure the seating in the room can be fit for 96 campers, The client has required to use inexpensive materials in a creative manner, to enhance the wellbeing of all users. Use colour, murals and graphics as a visual stimulus to produce a bright and cheerful atmosphere.

Design Statement

Overall of the camp design was inspired by the Royal Children Hospital, the interior space of the hospital has the creative use of colours and natural materials. The lobby area looks exicting by the use of bright orange colour on wall and  colourful decorative stool around. The multipurpose room were used of strong elements of colour to introduce cool graphic design on one feature wall. The feature wall is the main focus point for this room; the striking geometric mural were used 12 different colours. I used the colur wheel with my selection of colours to produce a scheme suitable for all ages. Different colour used on furniture for the room creates strong contrast and definition against timber dining tables and floorboards that adds a uplifting feel to the space. Decorative partition wall behind the stages, layers of screened panels with patterned metal dividers add a sense of privacy into this room and bring decoarative interest to this large room.
